The short version
Rank 100 is a party game. Play it with people you invite. Do not use the name you type — the one every other player sees — to abuse anybody. If you do, we remove it and we can remove you. Report anyone who does it to you: tap their name in the player list and choose Report.
There is no account to lose, because there is no account. From version 1.0.2 you can buy a Premium subscription or a category pack through Apple; a subscription renews until you cancel it in your Apple Account settings, and refunds come from Apple, not from us.
Who these terms are between
These terms are between you and Joe Spisak, who makes Rank 100. Contact: hello@rank100.app.
Rank 100 is distributed through the App Store, so Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your licence to use the app — the standard EULA at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. These terms cover conduct and content; that one covers the software licence. Where a conflict is genuinely irreconcilable, Apple's EULA governs the licence and these terms govern your behaviour in the game.
Who can use it
You must be 13 or older to play Rank 100 — to create a game, to join one, or to play the daily challenge. The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them; the privacy policy says the same thing, and says what happens if we find out otherwise.
If you are at least 13 but under the age of majority where you live, you may use Rank 100 only with the agreement of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms with you.
The rules, and there is really only one
Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You may not use Rank 100 to:
- display a name that is a slur, sexual, hateful, or targeted at another player
- harass, threaten, impersonate, or bully anyone
- post anything unlawful, or anything sexual involving minors
- attempt to break, overload, or work around the game's limits, filters, or rate limits
In practice, the thing other players see is your display name — everyone in the game reads it, for the whole game. What you type as a guess is scored and is not shown to anybody else; the rules above still apply to it, but a name is the one you should think about before you type it.
Display names pass an automatic filter before anyone else sees them. The filter is not perfect, which is why the rest of this section exists.
What we do about it
- Anyone can report anyone. In the player list, tap a name and choose Report. The reported player is never told, and reporting somebody does not change anything they can see.
- Hosts can remove players from their game, and a removed player cannot rejoin that game with the same code.
- We read the reports and we act on them. Rank 100 is made by one person, so reports are reviewed on a regular schedule rather than by a round-the-clock desk — but every report is read, and we act on the ones that need acting on.
- We can remove content or access at any time, without notice, if we think these rules are being broken. Because accounts are anonymous, that is a blunter instrument than it sounds — see below.

What you get, and what you do not
There is no account. The app creates an anonymous identifier for your device so you can rejoin a game after closing the app. That identifier is not a login, it is not transferable, and it is not recoverable — if you delete the app or delete your data, everything tied to it is gone, including your streak and your game history.
Nothing in the game is your property. Streaks, scores, standings and past games are part of the service, not goods you own. We may change categories, retire lists, or change how scoring works. Rank 100 is a game that will keep changing.
Versions before 1.0.2 are free and sell nothing. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no paid content in them.
From version 1.0.2 the free version shows ads. An ad may start only between rounds, never while a round's clock is running, and never more than twice in a game. They are served by Google AdMob, and an advertiser's claims are the advertiser's, not ours; we do not choose or endorse individual ads. How ads use your data, and how to refuse tracking, is in the Privacy Policy. Rank 100 Premium removes them.
Purchases (version 1.0.2 and later)
Two things are for sale, both optional, and both bought through Apple's App Store under your Apple Account:
- Rank 100 Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or annual. It removes the ads between rounds and unlocks every category pack, current and future, for as long as it runs. The price is shown before you buy. It renews automatically at that price until you cancel it, in the iOS Settings app under your Apple Account, then Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the current period ends. If a free trial is offered, it converts to the paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Category packs are bought once and kept. A pack unlocks its lists for the person who bought it; when that person hosts a game, everyone in the room plays it.
Apple handles payment and refunds. We never see your card and we cannot issue a refund — ask Apple, through the App Store's refund process. If Apple refunds a purchase, the pack or subscription it paid for is removed. Nothing here overrides the statutory rights you have where you live.
Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, not to your anonymous ID. If you reinstall the app, get a new phone, or delete your data, tap Restore purchases on the Premium screen and what you bought comes back. Purchases are not transferable to another Apple Account.
What a pack contains can change. The lists are built from published data, and we may retire a list or replace it when its source changes or a better one is published. A pack you bought stays unlocked; the lists in it are part of the service, not goods you own, and may change over time.
The content in the game
The lists are built from published, factual, measured data — follower counts, box office takings, medal tables, census records — with each list's source recorded. Facts are not owned by anyone. Where a list concerns a company, a league, or a platform, its name is used only to say what the data is about, and no affiliation or endorsement is implied.
If you believe a list infringes your rights, write to the address above and say which list and why.
Availability
We do not promise the game is always available, always correct, or always online. It depends on services we do not run. To the extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is", and our liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the app through the App Store in the twelve months before the claim — which, if you have bought nothing, is nothing.
Changes
We may change these terms. The date at the top is when they last changed. If a change is significant, we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here removes a consumer protection you have where you live.
